Back in 1993, the Last Resort Players presented its first community theater production under a circus tent in a park in Florence, Oregon.
A melodrama entitled "Logger's Lament" was just the beginning for Florence's blossoming community theater group.
LRP, as the group has come to be known, has gone on to produce more than 30 theatrical performances. In 1995, LRP founded the Storybook Theater to allow young adults and students to participate in the magic of stage craft.
When the brand new Florence Events Center was built and ready for its public theatrical debut in 1996, the Players stepped forth with their rendition of the timeless favorite, "The Music Man".
Step by step, LRP has evolved, now producing several plays and musicals every year, incuding classics like "Hello Dolly", "My Fair Lady", "Oklahoma", "The Wizard of Oz", "Oliver", "Fiddler on the Roof", "Some Enchanted Evening", "Steel Magnolias", "Kiss Me Kate", "Li'l Abner" and "Sugar". Edgier material, such as "Angry Housewives" and "Cabaret", have also found their home on the playbill.
Truly a community effort, the Last Resort Players depends on as many as 50 volunteers, working for months at a time, to stage a production. We are a 501(c)3 corporation, so all of your contributions may be tax deductible.
The show must go on... and you can help! Whether you like the limelight, would prefer to busy yourself backstage, or just want to help with administrative chores, There is always something that needs to be done.
